چکیده

As a result of an error during figure preparation, Fig 1B in this article includes an incorrect panel; the right-hand panel of Fig 1B is also included in Fig 1D of the following article: Santos Soprano A, Abe VY, Costa Smetana JH and Benedetti CE: Citrus MAF1, a Repressor of RNA Polymerase III, Binds the Xanthomonas citri Canker Elicitor PthA4 and Suppresses Citrus Canker Development. Plant Physiology http://dx.doi.org/10.1104/pp.113.224642. In the published figure, the third lane along shows CsMAF1 protein–as correctly denoted in the Plant Physiology article–but is incorrectly labelled as CsPABP1 protein in the PLOS ONE article. The authors would like to apologize for the error, which arose when the wrong lane was removed from the blot during preparation of the figure. The authors have repeated the GSTpulldown experiments with freshly prepared recombinant protein samples, and now provide a corrected Fig 1 that includes the blots obtained from the new experiments. Raw, uncropped blot images for both the new experiment and the original experiment are included as Supporting Information files. This correction does not affect the conclusions of the paper.

The TAL Effector PthA4 Interacts with Nuclear Factors Involved in RNA-Dependent Processes Including a HMG Protein That Selectively Binds Poly(U) RNA

Plant pathogenic bacteria utilize an array of effector proteins to cause disease. Among them, transcriptional activator-like (TAL) effectors are unusual in the sense that they modulate transcription in the host. Although target genes and DNA specificity of TAL effectors have been elucidated, how TAL proteins control host transcription is poorly understood. Previously, we showed that the Xanthom...

Separate domains of the Ran GTPase interact with different factors to regulate nuclear protein import and RNA processing.

The small Ras-related GTP binding and hydrolyzing protein Ran has been implicated in a variety of processes, including cell cycle progression, DNA synthesis, RNA processing, and nuclear-cytosolic trafficking of both RNA and proteins. Like other small GTPases, Ran appears to function as a switch: Ran-GTP and Ran-GDP levels are regulated both by guanine nucleotide exchange factors and GTPase acti...

Purification of Saccharomyces cerevisiae eIF4E/eIF4G/Pab1p Complex with Capped mRNA

Protein synthesis is one of the most complex cellular processes, involving numerous translation components that interact in multiple sequential steps. The most complex stage in protein synthesis is the initiation process. The basal set of factors required for translation initiation has been determined, and biochemical, genetic, and structural studies are now beginning to reveal details of their...

Identification of a 67 kDa protein that binds specifically to the pre-rRNA primary processing site in a higher plant.

In radish pre-rRNA primary processing cleavage occurs at a UUUUCGCGC element (motif P) mapped in the 5'-external transcribed spacer (Delcasso-Tremousaygue et al., 1988). Significantly, motif P is part of a cluster of homologous elements including three UUUUCCGG elements (motifs A123) and a single UUUUGCCCC element (motif B). Here we used the EMSA to identify in radish extracts an RNA-binding ac...

AKAP95 regulates splicing through scaffolding RNAs and RNA processing factors

Alternative splicing of pre-mRNAs significantly contributes to the complexity of gene expression in higher organisms, but the regulation of the splice site selection remains incompletely understood. We have previously demonstrated that a chromatin-associated protein, AKAP95, has a remarkable activity in enhancing chromatin transcription. In this study, we show that AKAP95 interacts with many fa...
